Death

If you die before you retire:

  • Your spouse, dependant or children could receive a yearly pension of a proportion of your pension at the date of your death.

If you die after retiring:

  • Your spouse, dependant or children could receive a yearly pension of a proportion of your pension at the date of your death before any reduction for taking a cash lump sum.
  • If you die within five years of retiring, your beneficiaries may receive a lump sum that’s equal to the value of the remaining payments that would have been made during that five-year period, if you hadn’t died.
